The VisionIn 1994, the gang problems, the growing number of youth involved in drugs and other crimes, including violent crimes, was a like a loud neon sign going off in the heart of founder, Estella Amador Rocha. The neon sign, via the daily news of escalating gang violence, the young people she was involved with that were being swallowed into the gang lifestyle, seemed to be screaming for help. After a couple of years of mountain top prayers, the Lord began to place a vision in her heart of programs that would address the very issues that hindered the youth from reaching the plans God had for them. Ministries that teach the Word of God are great, but there was such a need for so much more. There was a great need for tangible life and communication skills to help them make better choices. There was a need to seeing past thier faults and believing they were created to achieve bigger, better, and greater things in life. But they needed to see it for themselves. They needed hope; the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. With no experience in the non-profit world, the founder tried to pass the vision on to other Christian friends who were, in her eyes, very capable of getting the job done. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty. I Corinthians 1:27 NKJV Led by the Holy Spirit, Taking Back the Streets in the Name of Jesus Christ Ministries, Inc became a non profit organization in 1998.
