The Vision

In 1994, the gang problems, the growing number of youth involved in drugs and other crimes, including violent crimes, was  a like a loud neon sign going off in the heart of founder, Estella Amador Rocha.  The neon sign, via the daily news of escalating gang violence, the young people she was involved with that were being swallowed into the gang lifestyle, seemed to be screaming for help.

After a couple of years of mountain top prayers, the Lord began to place a vision in her heart of programs that would address the very issues that hindered the youth from reaching the plans God had for them. Ministries that teach the Word of God are great, but there was such a need for so much more.  There was a great need for tangible life and communication skills to help them make better choices.  There was a need to see past thier faults and believing they were created to achieve bigger, better, and greater things in life.  But they needed to see it for themselves.  They needed hope; the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

With no experience in the non-profit world, the founder tried to pass the vision on to other Christian friends who were, in her eyes, very capable of getting the job done.  But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God  has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mightyI Corinthians 1:27 NKJV

Led by the Holy Spirit, Taking Back the Streets in the Name of Jesus Christ Ministries, Inc became a non profit organization in 1998.

Parenting Tips

These are challenging times for parents. As parents, we all want our children to succeed in life and be happy. Children need guidance, support and most importantly parents that love them.

Short Parent Tips:
Children are happiest when their parents enforce reasonable limits with love and respect.  Be consistent in your dicipline and daily schedule. Make your home rules and chores clear.  Place the rules and chores where your children can see them.  Children do better when they know what is expected of them.

Get into church and get involved.  Be sure your children get involved as well. Attend bible studies and educate yourself.  The bible gives us the answers to all issues when it comes to raising our children.

Brother Willie and I were invited to attend several of the Christmas celebrations at different churches and on a couple of occasions we led the guests and family members to the Lord. What an opportunity to minister Jesus Christ to these families.  It's what we live for!

Thank you all for a successful 2009 Angel Tree Christmas!
